Viewcrest documentation

Viewcrest turns WordPress into a video growth toolkit for creators: keyword scores, daily ideas, trends, competitor tracking with alerts, title and SEO scores, an Upload Kit, a thumbnail maker, scripts, a content calendar and more. You run the site and creators pay you for Monthly or Yearly plans. Questions? Email admin@007aj.com.

1. Setup

  1. Upload the theme zip in Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload and switch it on.
  2. In Settings > Permalinks choose Post name and save, so /start/, /app/ and /plans/ work.
  3. Open Viewcrest > Settings and go through the tabs below.
  4. Optional: in the Demo content tab click the button to add a sample creator with three channels, keywords, a series and a full calendar.

Viewcrest adds a Creator role. Creators work in the front-end dashboard at /app/ and never see WordPress admin. New sign-ups start on the free Starter plan.

Sign-ups, owner only and coming soon

In Settings > General: untick New sign-ups: open to close the sign-up and plan pages. Owner only lets only site administrators use the dashboard, tools, AI and the browser companion. Coming soon home page replaces the home page with a coming soon page and an email form; emails are listed under Viewcrest > Launch list with a CSV download. Nothing is emailed automatically.

2. The free video data key (step by step)

Live numbers come from the YouTube Data API. The key is free and its daily allowance is enough for a small site because Viewcrest caches every reply.

  1. Go to console.cloud.google.com and sign in with a Google account.
  2. Create a new project (top bar, project menu, New project), name it, and open it.
  3. Open APIs & Services > Library, search for YouTube Data API and click Enable.
  4. Open APIs & Services > Credentials, click Create credentials > API key and copy the key.
  5. Click the key, under API restrictions choose Restrict key and tick only the YouTube Data API. Save.
  6. Paste it into Viewcrest > Settings > Video data key and save. Use the test button there to check it.

Without a key every tool still works and shows clearly labeled sample numbers. Search suggestions for keywords are always live.

Keyword scores are estimates: demand comes from live search suggestions and the views of top results; competition from how strong those top results are. No outside tool gets exact search volumes.

3. AI writer (optional)

In the AI writer tab pick the AI service. For Claude (Anthropic), paste your Claude API token from console.anthropic.com and a model id such as claude-sonnet-5-5. Claude writes text only, so with Claude the thumbnail maker uses the built-in layouts and text concepts instead of AI backgrounds. For OpenAI-compatible, enter an address (for example https://api.openai.com/v1), your token and model names. Titles, descriptions, scripts, translations, comment replies and thumbnail backgrounds then use your account. Without one, a built-in template writer covers every feature, so nothing breaks.

4. Payments (Stripe and PayPal)

In the Payments tab paste your Stripe publishable key (pk_…) and secret key (sk_…) from Developers > API keys. Use test keys first: card 4242 4242 4242 4242, any future date, any CVC. Plans open Stripe Checkout and are confirmed when the creator comes back. No webhook setup is needed.

PayPal is optional: create a REST app at developer.paypal.com, paste the client ID and secret, tick sandbox while testing. Viewcrest makes the product and plans for you.

5. Creator plans

The Creator plans tab sets the Starter limits (channels tracked, AI runs a month) and the Monthly and Yearly amounts. Creators choose a plan in their Plan tab, can stop renewing at any time, and keep the plan until the paid period ends.

6. Email setup

Alerts, the weekly digest and sign-up emails go through WordPress mail (wp_mail). Many hosts deliver this poorly, so we recommend the free 007AJ SMTP Mailer from 007aj.com/shop: install it, add your mail provider's SMTP details and send a test. The Email tab turns the weekly digest on or off; creators choose their own alerts in their Settings tab.

7. For creators

8. Channel connection (optional, off by default)

This lets creators connect their own channel for private stats (click rate, retention, audience funnel, earnings per thousand views, best time to post), alerts on channel health, sending titles and descriptions back, and posting comment replies. It needs your own Google OAuth app:

  1. In the same Google Cloud project enable YouTube Data API and YouTube Analytics API.
  2. Set up the OAuth consent screen and add the scopes shown in the Channel connection tab.
  3. Create an OAuth client of type Web application with the redirect address shown in that tab.
  4. Paste the client ID and secret and tick the switch.

Google reviews apps that use these scopes; until verified, only test users you add can connect. Earnings data also needs the monetary scope and a channel in the Partner Program.

9. Browser companion connection

Viewcrest includes a secure REST connection at /wp-json/vcr-companion/v1/ (ping, score, fill, checklist, stats). Creators make a token in their Settings tab; it is sent in the X-Companion-Token header and stored only as a hash. Turn it on in the Browser companion tab. A ready browser companion is available as a paid setup extra; email us.

10. FAQ

Do I need the AI writer? No. The template writer covers every feature.

What if I run out of daily key allowance? Cached replies keep working and tools fall back to sample numbers until the next day.
